Recupero e restauro conservativo
The project developed and led by our firm, was about the conservative restoration of an ancient building located in the historic center of the city of Conegliano; the main goal was a deep renovation, aiming to a complete structural consolidation, together with the search for restoring the original typological characteristics.
Originally, it was a typical “italian palazzo” dating back to the 16th century and therefore any design activity was developed under the supervision of the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage.
This assignment meant a lot for our professional growth: we have in fact faced, all the critical issues that a restoration site could have, from the insertion of the building into a very dense layout, up to the project variations due to the several discoveries of original elements belonging to the original core of the building.
The overall recovery and restoration of the existing structures were carried out, in some cases, through the insertion of new aged-bronze metal elements, mainly with a structural function, but not hiding their contemporary feeling.
Even the internal layout of the building will reflect the original one, locating the “artisan workshop” at the ground floor, and keeping the residential function at the two upper levels and the attic aswell.
Facades were brought to their original design, restoring the original openings, and replacing every thresholds with new stone elements; particular care was given to the main window, locate din the center of the elevation, with a trefoiled and frescoed framing.
Conservative restoration of buildings with a deep historical value especially in Conegliano had always been fascinating to us: using a contemporary design approach, strongly preserving the original essence.
The orginal palette of materials and finishing, is mainly defined by recovered wooden floors, and by the original stone slabs pavement of the workshop; is completed by original exposed-bricks walls, paired with resin floors of the bathrooms.
